Zaļā māja

Slightly reminiscent of mountain houses in Germany, the Green House is the most famous private house in Cesvaine, a must-see for any architecture lover.

The building is located in the heart of Cesvaine, surrounded by countless landscapes, ancient buildings and photogenic angles.
The place is accessible from the outside for a large number of visitors.
In the 1930s, Kārlis Ulmanis spent the night in the forest lord's room of honor. After that, in honor of this event, a birch grove was planted in front of the house, which was named Kārļa grove.
The Forester's house (Mežkunga māja) (the so-called Green House (Zaļā māja)) was built in 1889. It was designed by civil engineer H. Zelpers. It has been called Zaļā māja (the Green House) since it was built when a forester lived there. The Forester's house (Mežkunga māja) has always been painted green. The house is gradually being renovated. It was awarded the Cultural Heritage of the Year Award for the work done in 2006. The building is located in the center of Cesvaine, where you can see the restored Cesvaine Castle and Park, the Brewery "Cesvaines alus darītava" and the Nord Wolf Brewery.
