Landscape and nature
The area around Gaiziņkalns is one of the most scenic places in Latvia and has one of the highest elevations. In the vicinity of Gaiziņkalns (311.94 m above sea level) there are also other big hills of Latvia - Sirdskalns (297 m above sea level), Abrienas hill (287 m above sea level) and Dravēnu hill (283 m above sea level). 8 of the 10 highest peaks in Latvia are located at the foot of Gaiziņš. The "Gaiziņkalns" nature park, which was founded more than 60 years ago - in 1957, spreads over an area of 2,000 hectares. The territory was created to protect the typical hilly terrain and lakes of the Vidzeme highlands, their natural and cultural values. It is defined as an exceptionally scenic area with the characteristic scenery of the Vidzeme highlands. The nature park is included in the "Natura 2000" network of specially protected natural areas of the European Union.
4 snow tracks are available in the complex: "Mazais Golgāts" was built as a track where you can get the first skills for learning skiing techniques and improving your snowboarding skills. Additional lighting has also been created for the further downhill areas of the track.
The length of the track "Lielā Golgāta" is 320 m, the height difference is 61 m. The track is equipped with a DOPELMAYER type T-BAR lift. The slope itself has existed with variable terrain and a wide braking zone in the lower part of the track.
On the right side of the track in a sparse forest strip, a lighted forest track "KAMIELIS" has been built, especially popular for snowboarding with natural ravines and hills.
A 110-meter-long children's tubing track is also available.
In the recreation complex "GAIZINŠ" ski equipment can be rented. 120 sets of carving skis, 40 sets of snowboards and 25 sets of cross-country skis are available.
Ski and snowboard instructor services are available.
In the summer, 15 specially equipped inner tubes are available for the attraction "UFO" (an inner tube slide in water) and an aerial cableway. There is a marked hiking trail.
The complex is perfectly suited for families and children both in winter and summer. Instructors are available. It is possible to enjoy tracks of different difficulty and to rent sliding inner tubes in both winter and summer. There is a playground.
The recreation complex can be used by groups with an unlimited number of people. There is a large parking lot in the area. Accommodation is available for groups with up to 16 beds in the guest house and 18 beds in the sauna house, the complex has a cafe. Advance registration is mandatory for groups.
Simple accommodation is available in the complex, with up to 16 beds in the guest house on the upper floor of the cafe and 18 beds in the "Lielā Pirtsmāja".
In the summer season, the recreation complex offers its customers the opportunity to rent rooms for celebrations and events in the cafe, guest house and sauna of Gaiziņš. Territory from 10 - 20 ha, sauna, beds (16 in guest house and 18 in sauna house) are available in area. It is possible to set up an unlimited number of places for tents, the territory is equipped with bonfire places, a field for sports, swimming areas and picnic areas. There is complete lighting of the territory.
The recreation complex is particularly suitable for the snowy season and offers everything you need for a fulfilling weekend on the mountain

During the snowy season:
Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr: 2pm – 8pm
Sa: 10am – 10pm
Su: 10am – 6pm (follow current working hours changes on social media).
In summer, visit only with prior booking for a certain day and time.
