Vestiena post office and telegraph building

On the side of the road, completely away from the populated centre, the Vestiena post office and telegraph building is an unexpected and very charming example of interwar modernism in the Vidzeme highlands.

On September 30, 1934, the post office and telegraph building in Vestiena was opened. The author is Dāvids Zariņš – the architect of the Post and Telegraph Department of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia. A peculiar, even unique functionalist building with stone decoration in the style of national romanticism.
