Lubeja Castle

The recently restored Lubeja Castle is one of the most carefully kept secrets of the Vidzeme highlands and a unique stop on your journey. The territory is not suitable for a large number of visitors, so please respect privacy.

Currently, the Manor Park and the adjacent territory are well maintained and cleaned. There are more than 150 trees older than 100 years in the park. These are oaks, European larch, Siberian pine, horse chestnuts and broad-leaved trees. There are 3 ponds in the park.
The first details of the Lubeja manor can be traced back to the 16th century. Then the manor belonged to the Tiesenausen family. In 1625, King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden donated Lubeja to Captain Gottfried. In 1858, it was bought by Johan Getten, then police chief of Cēsis municipality. At that time, the property of Lubeja Castle and its surroundings were very tidy and decorated with alleys, occupying the first place in the entire parish of Lauter. In 1917, the Latvian Youth Union established a library in the premises of the Lubeja Castle. In 1919, a Soviet farm was established in the Lubeja manor. In 1935, Lubeja Castle was divided into parts, the main building was given to the administration of the territory, and a 6-grade elementary school was established there.
Lubeja Castle is a three-story brick and boulder building. There are several broken boulder building walls in the area. The residential building of the castle was built in 1860 in the English Neo-Gothic style.
