Rope Bridge over Aiviekste River

Although an ordinary bridge, this structure will be an exciting test for those who are afraid of heights and narrowness. Until recently, there was also a pontoon crossing next to the cable bridge, of which only a road is left that seems to lead into the water.

The wide landscape of the Aiviekste River opens from the bridge, and it connects the parishes of Prauliena and Barkava.
The place is available for visitors of different generations.
The place is suitable for small groups due to the carrying capacity of the bridge.
The cable bridge is 75m long and 1.1m wide. It is used for pedestrians. Historical data show that the bridge was put into operation at the end of 1969 in honor of the upcoming hundredth birthday of V. I. Lenin (1870 – 1924). A pontoon bridge was located next to the rope bridge until a couple of years ago. It was 68 m long and 8 m wide, consisting of 7 connected metal pontoons and ramps at the ends of the bridge. In the summer season, it was used for local traffic, but before the onset of winter, it was moored on the left bank of Aiviekste. At one time, this tank bridge was purchased by the Soviet farm "Lubāna" from the USSR army to be used for transporting agricultural machinery across the river.
The place is available at any time of the year.
