Oak grove of Latvian parishes

This verdant grove has become the next center of Latvian life information, which everyone should visit without any extra effort.

The grove is surrounded by the oaks growing in the old park of the Madliena school. The oaks can be proud of a considerable number of years. The network of paved and gravel paths between the densely grown area symbolically resembles the roots of a tree, whose winding continues in the tree trunk with seven acorn-shaped areas. Various environmental objects tell us about the roots of the Latvian people and stages of human life. An information stand has also been set up here. You can learn about the nature of Latvia from this stand.
The "Imants Ziedonis sky observation bed" has been installed in the grove. It tells the residents, guests and tourists of the parish about the creative connection of the poet, publicist and public worker Imants Ziedonis (1933-2013) with the Madliena parish.
The place is suitable for all generations.
The place is available for a large number of visitors.
On April 30, 2004, one day before Latvia joined the European Union, representatives of Latvian parishes gathered in Madliena to leave a message for future generations. On this day, 453 oak trees were planted (that's how many parishes there were in Latvia at that time). The choice of the location of the Latvian parish oak grove was determined by the historical fact that in 1938 Madliena was recognized as the geographical center of Latvia. Over time, several small but elegant projects have been implemented for the improvement of the oak grove of Latvian parishes.
