Jaunpiebalga Regional History Museum

The extensive cultural and historical heritage of Jaunpiebalga is gathered in a Latvian house that looks as old as Jaunpiebalga itself!

The museum is located in the scenic and lush park area of Jaunpiebalga Secondary School.

The museum was opened in 1977. There are more than 3,000 items in the main fund of the museum, and 14,000 items in the auxiliary fund. There are various documents, books, photographs and albums available in the museum. The expositions include the following topics: Jaunpiebalga in the past and nowadays (old documents, pictures and news about prominent residents of the region); ethnography (barn, fragment of servant's room, master's bedroom, tools); history of schools (Jaunpiebalga parish school, Mārtiņškola, Jēkabskola, Pēterskola, Jāņaskola, Jaunpiebalga secondary school teachers - veterans, the alley planted by them); 1941 and 1949 in Jaunpiebalga (activities of the People's Front during the Revival); the long-term pastors of Jaunpiebalga (Kristofs Reinhold Girgensons, Kārlis Eduards Napierskis, Karls Ludwig and Karls Augusts Emils Kēlbranti (father and son), Jānis Ozols, Jēkabs Ozoliņš, Edgars Jundzis).
The museum is housed in an old country building with a reed roof. The author of the project is architect Teodors Nigulis, the public construction manager is Hermanis Pakulis.
