Suntaži Old Railway Station

The beautiful, former railway station on the Rīga – Ērgļi line is still waiting for its savior.

You can run marathon, half-marathon or double-marathon distances from Suntažu station to Taurupe or Ergļi stations. Find more details about the distance here, "Midzemēs home page"
The station had 3 tracks before. However, 1 track was dismantled and only 2 tracks remained shortly before the closure. Before the line was closed, Suntaži was the only station on the section from Saurieši to Ērgļi where trains could be changed. The operation of the line was stopped in 2007, the tracks were demolished in 2009.
Suntaži station was opened in 1935, along with the section of the Rīga – Ērgļi railway line to Suntaži. The two-story brick building of the station was designed by Jānis Šarlovs (1875-1940) and built in 1937. The station building was destroyed during the war. The water tower built in 1939 has not survived either. After the war, a new, smaller station building was built, which has survived to this day.
The place is available at any time of the year.
