Smeceres Sils – sports and recreation base

One of the most well-known sports and recreation bases in Latvia, Smeceres Sils has always been a standard of cooperation between man and nature in the Vidzeme highlands.

Illuminated skiing and roller skiing tracks and equipment rental, a biathlon shooting range, BMX track barrier use, beach volleyball and soccer field rental, bicycle rental (up to 12 units) are available. Hiking trails are established in the territory through a hilly forest area. The length of forest trails is 4, 6 or 10 km. All trails are marked.
Gunārs Ikaunieks is the owner of Smeceres sila sports and recreation base. Gunārs was born in Madona and has made a significant contribution to sports pedagogy and the development of the sports industry. He is the orienteering coach of the Madona Children's and Youth Sports School and also the president of the orienteering club "Arona". Appointed as a Knight of the Order of the Three Stars in 2021. Skiing and roller skiing tracks as well as equipment rental for children are available. Other activities are offered.
The sports and recreation base is suitable for a large number of visitors. At least 24 people can stay in the log houses. Large public events are regularly held at the base. There is convenient parking in the area. Visits must be arranged in advance.
6 log cottages for up to 4 people each are available for overnight stay. Tents for rent are also available.
The sports base is available for sports competitions (basic skiing tracks included, special preparation for specific competitions for a fee). A building with a conference hall, a sauna and a cafe hall is available for indoor events, log houses are also available for smaller events.
During the snowy season, ski rental and cross-country skiing tracks are available at the base.
