The lake is surrounded by a beautiful landscape of the Vidzeme highlands, which stands out with something special in every season. The area has also received the "Pedestrian Friendly” ("Gājējam draudzīgs") award. There is a great swimming place by the lake.
A boat rental point has been built with the support of the European Fisheries Fund and Altum. Boats for fishing and recreation with or without an engine, a water bike, and SUP boards are available for rent during the season. Boats are available every day in summer, and only after prior application in autumn and spring. You need a "Fishing, Crabbing and Underwater Hunting Card” ("Makšķerēšanas, vēžošanas un zemūdens medību karte") for fishing
The association "Plaužezeram" was founded on May 30, 2012, and its main goal is the protection, conservation, sustainable use and preservation of the cultural and historical environment of the ecosystems and biological diversity of Lake Plaužu in Ogre municipality and its surrounding territory in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and in accordance with the statutes. Tent, grill, and picnic place rental is available for tourists and vacationers. You can use a swimming pool and rent a sauna and hot tub. There is also a small shop with treats and items for a bonfire in the area. The place is available for pets after prior agreement.
