It is a place with one of the most impressive, clean views over the Vidzeme highlands. There you can find simple and lovely accommodation on Elka hill, as well as the source of the Gauja River!
The highest hill in the Cēsis area (260.7m above sea level). From the top there is a fantastic, wide view of the Brežgis mountain and the further forests of the Amata valley, the Latvian landscapes of Skujene, Taurene and Piebalga. The Gauja begins its course from Elka hill; this point can be visited. One of the points of the Strūve meridian passes through Elka hill. It is possible to go to several nature workshops together with Milda Škerberga, the hostess of Elka hill. The natural plants of Latvia, their healing abilities, correct collection of plants, drying and preparation for use are introduced in herbal tea expeditions. In the herbal soap workshop, you can make your own special herbal soap with herbal oil extracts and herbal tea powders. Elkas kalna farm offers a delicious outdoor meal for 10 - 40 people. Please apply in advance. There are soups and stews from seasonal vegetables and mushrooms or freshly caught fish, home-baked bread and flatbread, birch juices, teas and berry drinks on offer.
The place is suitable for visitors of different ages.
Nature workshops are available for groups of 5-20 people, outdoor meals are available for 10-40 people.
A holiday home is available with a spacious terrace for a couple, family or small group of friends. There is a spacious living room with a table and sofa, which can be transformed into a double bed if necessary. The sleeping area with a comfortable double bed is located in the roof structure. A small kitchen for preparing snacks or simple meals is located on the terrace. Guests also have access to a spacious garden kitchen if necessary. A WC and comfortable solar shower are located outside. A grill, bonfire places and a pot for cooking on a fire are available. A hot tub and tent sites can be reserved.
