Baltezers of Timsmale
What seems like a humble place on the side of the road turns out to be a well-hidden, wonderful lake for summer swimming and beautiful scenery.
It is one of the most outstanding clear water lakes in Latvia in the midst of a dense forest. The lake has low mineralized water, mesotrophic hydrochemical indicators, and an excellent deposit of specially protected species – Sparganium angustifolium. The nature reserve was created to preserve the biotope of lakes of EU importance – oligotrophic to mesotrophic plant community minerals in impoverished water bodies and their shores. There are also specially protected biotopes in Latvia: Sparganium angustifolium plantations in lakes, mesotrophic waters in lakes and sandy, rocky bottom in lakes. A recreation area and a forest path have been created by the lake.
The place is perfect for visitors of all ages.
