In the Middle Ages, the area of Jumurda was located in the Ērgļu district and belonged to the Tiesenhausens – vassals of the Archbishops of Riga. The first information about the Jumurda manor is preserved from 1523, when its owner was Reinhold Tiesenhausen. After the Polish-Swedish war, the manor was confiscated and given to Jan Sapeh, who in 1621 gave it to Wilhelm Tiesenhausen. The Tiesenhausens lost the manor during the Swedish Vidzeme period, and from 1638 it was managed by Johann Streiff von Lauenstein. The manor was returned to the Tiesenhausen family after the Great Northern War in 1736. In 1784, it was bought by Riga landlord Adam Heinrich von Grote. In 1852, Eduard von Tranzē (Transehe) bought the Jumurda manor for his eldest son, Alwil von Transehe. During his time, after 1856, the current house of the lords of the manor was built. Poet Andrejs Pumpurs worked for a short time (1872-1874) as manager and forester of Jumurda manor. During the revolution of 1905, the building of the lords of the manor was partially burned down, then restored again until 1907 by its new owner, doctor Reinholds Miķelis Liepiņš. A part of the manor was bought by forester Liberts in 1909. The owners of the manor left the building during the First World War and the freedom struggle. The Latvian archers held balls in the palace in 1917. The Jumurda manor was divided into 70 units (of which 13 were rental houses) covering an area of 1145.9 ha in the course of the agrarian reform of 1920. The house of the lords of the manor was assigned to Jumurda parish. The parish administration was located in the manor palace, later a dairy was built on the first floor, but from 1929 the Jumurda primary school was located in the palace. Since the closing of the school, the Jumurda Parish Council and the Jumurda Development Fund have been located in the palace.
The Jumurda manor recreation complex includes three buildings (Lielā, Baltā, Zīļu māja) with rooms, a restaurant, and a terrace. Apartments for one to seven people are available.
40 m2, 100 m2 and 147 m2 halls, restaurant premises with a summer terrace and a 240 m2 summer tent are intended for banquets, weddings and other celebrations. Catering and a florist can be provided. The hotel's 17-hectare territory has excellent conditions for organizing sports games.
The house of the lords of the Jumurda manor is one of the earliest examples of Latvian historicist palace architecture, the facades use a juxtaposition of unplastered bricks and plastered details. The exterior design of the building combines the composition principles of villa architecture with the English neo-Gothic tower. Construction works were led by master builder Mārcis Sārums. The recreation complex is built into the former complex of farm buildings, historically a stable and servants' house building. One of the most iconic buildings is the water tower, it has recently been renovated and supplemented with a viewing platform.
The surroundings of Jumurda lake and manor are especially beautiful in winter. Cross-country skiing and equipment rental are available in the area. Ice rinks are also being prepared on the ice of the lake.
