Sāviena castle mound
Sāviena castle mound is small in size, but it is able to offer a beautiful view through the forest and across the marsh, especially in autumn.
The castle mound is located on a mountain range in the north-south direction. A round, isolated hill with relatively flat sides, located 30m above its foot, was selected for it. The castle mound is relatively well preserved and has no significant damage. From the top of the hill there is a picturesque view of a swampy valley decorated with small lakes.
12th-13th century The left bank of Aiviekste was part of the Gerdene municipality, the center of which was the Sāviena settlement.
