Bānūžu Lake and the Devil’s Stone

A natural monument of local importance is located in a beautiful place. When you step on it, you can see a view over the water surface that seems to have been untouched for centuries.

It is located on a small, picturesque, somewhat steep promontory, so the rock rises several meters above the Bānūži lake. The promontory is springy and moist. There is an impressive stone, slightly overgrown with moss.
The place is attractive to visitors of different generations.
"The devil wanted to build a bridge over Bānūži lake. He said that he would own every tenth person. God was not satisfied with this and ordered Thunder to hit the Devil's Bridge. All the stones were cast aside. That is how the name Velnakmens (the devil's stone) was born. Velnakmens is located on the shore of Lake Bānūži between Krastkalns and Stūriņi. LFK 1865, 985. Teic.
