Lake Rāceņi
Little pigeons can carry great messages – that could be the story of the small, yet attractive and well-maintained Lake Rāceņi!
There is a recreation area of the Latvian State Forests in the small and picturesque Rāceņi lake surroundings. There is a canopy and a bonfire place on the shore of the lake as well as several wild swimming places. Beautiful scenery opens up from the shore of the lake. The place is suitable for vacationers and anglers.
The lake is managed by the association "Madonas Makšķernieku Klubs". Fishing licenses are available for purchase.
The ancient name of Rāceņi lake is Plākšņu (Pāksnes) lake. It was marked on the map of the beginning of the 20th century. In the plan of 1691, it was marked as Plaxne Lacus. The house of Rāceņi (Raatzing) was located on its bank.
